about

When Gong came up in the 70ies, I was instantly a huge fan. I loved the ways Steve Hillage brought with him, even more so Allan Holdsworth….but for some reason or another my interest went other ways.
One thing I loved Gong for was the weirdness of Daevid Allen...and also the glissando guitar.
Quite some time later, I think it was already in the 2000´s, I watched a DVD from a live performance of Daevid Allen with the Magick Brothers from 1992…. and it blew my mind.
Wise Man in your Heart was and is m favourite...amd I love Daevid Allen for this performance. He sings with passion, and when he plays the glissando guitar, he is just about adorable.
Later I found there is a version by Gong – it is cool, but it is sterile, it misses Daevid´s passion.
So when I read the call to do a Daevid Allen tribute, I instantly knew which song to choose, even if I never can come near to anything Daevid did.
So, this is not a cover, but a very personal interpretation.
